Situated in the South Eastern region of Burundi-Rutana Province, the Karera waterfalls immerse deep into the forest with very gigantic trees and that are stunning to watch as they flow via different paths in six branches and three different levels.
These are approximately 80 m tall with beautiful natural wonders in Burundi. There are three major falls and many candid ones and the two upper falls form two various tributaries i.e the Karera stream as well as its candid tributary called Mwaro.
All the falls have many different smaller cascades. Close to the falls is dense forest vegetation which makes the area look very beautiful and attractive to all kinds of travelers both local and international.
These are fully protected since 1980 after being declared a destination to be protected by the government.
