Mount Hela

Gitega National Museum is located in Burundi and was established in 1955 in a large city called Gitega just a few kilometers East of Bujumbura capital of Burundi. The Museum has numerous collections of musical instruments, weapons and witchcraft tools.

The Museum consists of the Musée Vivant with a reptile house, an aquarium, open air theater, aviary and botanical gardens. While exploring the Museum, you will spot numerous photos of Burundi’s monarchies as well as their way of life from back then.

Most photographs here are legendary and historical explaining the lifestyles of the people of Burundi. You will spot various Karyenda royal drum sanctuaries and the Ibwami also referred to as the Royal Court..
